French Macarons

There are two essential parts to a macaron: the macaron shell and its’ filling. The shell is a sweet meringue-based confection made with eggs, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring. These two shells sandwich a filling of buttercream, jam, ganache or whatever else you want to put in between them.
