Caves de Saumur Blanc Les Pouches, 2010, Saumur, Loire Valley, France
Spring is officially here (even though it seemed to start in late February this year…) and for the month of April we will be drinking in the delights of a crisp clean single vineyard Chenin Blanc from the Saumur AOC in the Loire Valley. Aged in stainless steel, this wine is bright and crisp with notes of pippin apple, tart citrus, and plenty of flinty minerality.
Pair this warm-weather sipper with anything from coconut-based Thai curries {see Cooking with Cassa for her Penang Thai Curry with Monkfish recipe} to floral goat cheeses to shellfish. We especially recommend it with the sweet, lightly-briny, cucumber and melon-tinged oysters of the Pacific Northwest like Kumamotos from Wagshal’s Market. Delish!
